title

A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER, OR DESIGNEE, TO EXECUTE AMENDMENT NO.1 TO THE AGREEMENT WITH CRAIG B. KUSHNIR D.O., LLC, PROVIDING MEDICAL DIRECTOR SERVICES FOR COCONUT CREEK FIRE RESCUE.

body

BACKGROUND:

According to Chapter 401, Florida Statutes, and Chapter 64J, Florida Administrative Code, a Medical Director is required to provide services to an agency providing an Emergency Medical Services System, which employs or utilizes Emergency Medical Technicians (EMT) and/or Paramedics to perform basic and/or advanced life support procedures, and said Medical Director must be a Board Certified Physician pursuant to Chapter 458, Florida Statutes.

DISCUSSION:

The City previously entered into an agreement with Dr. Craig B. Kushnir for Medical Director Services, which is scheduled to expire on September 30, 2024. The Medical Director has agreed to continue providing services to the City at the same cost (except as noted below), terms, and conditions as contained in the original agreement provided that the City honors an amendment to his compensation should the scope of his services increase upon the implementation of a community-based paramedic service. The City agrees to increase the monthly contract amount an additional Four Hundred and 00/00 Dollars ($400.00) following the implementation of a community-based paramedic service.  Staff is evaluating community-based paramedic service and expects that program, or something similar, will be rolled out during winter of 2025.  Amendment No. 1 to the Agreement will extend the agreement to September 29, 2027.

RECOMMENDATION:

Staff recommends approval of this resolution.
