A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER, OR DESIGNEE, TO EXECUTE AN INTERLOCAL AGREEMENT (ILA) WITH BROWARD COUNTY PROVIDING FOR COST SHARE SUPPORT FOR THE NATURESCAPE IRRIGATION SERVICE AND RESIDENTIAL IRRIGATION REBATE PROGRAM.

BACKGROUND:
Since 2005, the City of Coconut Creek has been partnering with Broward County via various Interlocal Agreements (ILA) for the NatureScape Irrigation Service (NIS). The last ILA was renewed in 2015. The NIS is intended to conserve water by providing detailed site evaluations and recommendations to allow for water savings and water quality improvements through modifications in landscape and irrigation system design, maintenance and operation. In addition, this ILA contains an optional Residential Irrigation Rebate (RIR) program where the County will facilitate rebates to residents within participating NIS partners’ water service area.
DISCUSSION:
The City is committed to promoting green initiatives and customer service for its residents and businesses. This ILA provides services to identify potential water savings and best management practices along with irrigation rebates to applicants, which is complementary to other State and Federal programs that promote water savings. This ILA provides for a new five (5) year agreement.

Staff recommends approval of this resolution.

NOTES: Ependiture amount is over a five year period. Funding for FY20 is $8,250 and available from Stormwater Fund Account Number 4595-3412 and Water Fund Account Number 4191-3412, Other Contractual Services - Other.
