body

BACKGROUND:

Broward MPO staff has invited local municipalities to apply for grant funding to study the potential for future Mobility Hub locations in areas of mixed-use development and redevelopment within or adjacent to public transportation facilities, proximity to employment centers, schools, and destinations along with other land use elements.   This grant opportunity includes the following elements: an evaluation and context, market analysis, design concepts, and a supportive implementation strategy.  If the application is approved, the Broward MPO will conduct the Mobility Hub Master Plan study on the City’s behalf.

DISCUSSION:

The Broward MPO has requested that the City adopt a resolution expressing support for the proposed Mobility Hub Master Plan for which the City is requesting funding.  This resolution supports the application for funding from the MPO 2022 Mobility Hub Program Policies Funding Grant.  The project location is in the general vicinity of the MainStreet development area and is more particularly described in the attached Exhibit “A.”  A Mobility Hub Master Plan will continue the City’s ongoing efforts for supporting different modes of transportation (City Shuttles, Broward County Transit, and the Butterfly Express) with a future investment in a mobility hub within the City.

Staff recommends approval of this resolution.
