title

A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER, OR DESIGNEE, TO EXECUTE THE SECOND AMENDMENT TO THE AGREEMENT WITH BROWARD COUNTY FOR INSTALLATION AND MAINTENANCE OF BUS SHELTERS TO PROVIDE FOR THE ADDITION OF TEN (10) BUS SHELTERS.

body

BACKGROUND:

On August 27, 2013, the City executed an agreement with Broward County, providing for funding and inclusion in the County’s Community Shuttle program. A second agreement was then approved on September 26, 2019, providing for a new term, Title VI requirements, and enhanced funding.  On November 14, 2019, the City approved the First Amendment to the Agreement for the installation and maintenance of twenty (20) new Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA)-compliant bus shelters at various locations throughout the City, which brought the total bus shelter count covered under the agreement to twenty nine (29).

DISCUSSION:

This Second Amendment provides for a continued cooperative effort between Broward County and the City to improve local transportation services within the City through the installation of ten (10) new ADA-compliant bus shelters at various locations throughout the City, as noted in Exhibit “A” of the attached Second Amendment to the Agreement. Broward County agrees to purchase and install the shelters, with the City agreeing to maintain them after installation.  If approved, the total number of shelters the City will maintain for the County will be thirty nine (39).

RECOMMENDATION:

Staff recommends approval of this resolution.

FISCAL IMPACT:

REVENUES:                     $ 0

EXPENDITURES:                     $ 11,000 annually
