BACKGROUND:

Broward County, along with eleven participating municipalities, has formed a consortium to receive federal grant funds from the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) under the HOME Investment Partnerships Program.  The HOME Program was created by the National Affordable Housing Act of 1990 to provide for the purchase, rehabilitation, and new construction of affordable multi-family and single-family housing for low-income families.  Coconut Creek has been a participating jurisdiction in the Broward County HOME Consortium since 2009.

DISCUSSION:

The City is committed to providing community services assistance.  The attached agreement provides for the disbursement of Broward County HOME Consortium funds for FY 2018 in the amount of $174,425 to support the City’s Minor Home Repair Program.

RECOMMENDATION:

Staff recommends approval of this resolution.
