body

BACKGROUND:

On July 23, 2020, in accordance with Section 2-266 of the Code of Ordinances, the City Commission each nominated one person to fill a position of membership on the Environmental Advisory Board (EAB) under Resolution 2020-084, in which the full slate of membership was unanimously approved by the City Commission.

Recently, Commissioner Belvedere’s appointee, Hannah Mashburn, advised that she could not serve on the board, creating a vacancy.

DISCUSSION:

According to Section 2-193 of the City’s Code, vacancies of regular members of any board, commission or committee due to any reason whatsoever, shall be filled by the nomination of a person by the city commissioner who sits in the seat of the commissioner who made the original nomination of the vacating member. Such nominations shall be approved by the majority of the City Commission in the same manner as for initial appointments. The length of term of the member filling a vacancy shall be the remainder of the original member's term.
