BACKGROUND:

Senate Bill 954 (2025) recently passed and requires local governments to implement certain procedures for handling and processing reasonable accommodation requests by January 1, 2026. The City of Coconut Creek City Code of Ordinances provides procedures for handling and processing requests for accommodation in Section 13-41, “Requests for Accommodation.”

DISCUSSION:

The proposed ordinance amends the City’s Code of Ordinances to update the City’s procedures for handling and processing requests for accommodation, specifically regarding the allowable timeframe for review, to ensure consistency with the new State law.

RECOMMENDATION:

Staff recommends that the Planning and Zoning Board recommend approval of the proposed ordinance.
