BACKGROUND:
The City of Coconut Creek works with its State Lobbyist, Ericks Consultants, Inc., each year to create a State Legislative Agenda to be submitted to the Broward County Legislative Delegation, Broward County Board of County Commissioners, Broward League of Cities, Florida League of Cities, and the City’s State legislators, Senator Tina Polsky and Representative Christine Hunschofsky. This process ensures that Coconut Creek’s priorities and concerns are consistently represented during Florida’s legislative session.
DISCUSSION:
Throughout the year, staff maintains regular communication with Ericks Consultants, Inc. and Florida legislators, regarding proposed legislation that could affect City operations and services. Based on these discussions and on legislative issues identified during interim Committee Weeks, the City’s State Lobbyist has prepared the attached 2026 State Legislative Agenda (Exhibit “A”), summarizing Coconut Creek’s legislative concerns and proposed priorities for the upcoming session. This Legislative Agenda will also serve as a reference guide for the City Commission, City Manager, and staff for legislative advocacy efforts, including the upcoming Broward Days in Tallahassee.
RECOMMENDATION:
Staff recommends approval of this resolution.
