A RESOLUTION IN SUPPORT OF THE CITY’S REQUEST FOR FEDERAL COMMUNITY PROJECT FUNDING FOR THE ADVANCED METERING INFRASTRUCTURE (AMI) PROJECT, WHICH SUPPORTS THE CITY’S STRATEGIC GOALS OF SAFETY AND QUALITY OF LIFE AND HIGH PERFORMANCE GOVERNMENT.

body

BACKGROUND:

Congressman Jared Moskowitz, 23rd Congressional District, has the opportunity to support twenty (20) applications for federal Community Project Funding in 2026.  The City of Coconut Creek is submitting an application for consideration for the Advanced Metering Infrastructure (AMI) Project.

DISCUSSION:

The AMI Project will close a funding gap that would allow the City's water services to upgrade its metering infrastructure technology. This upgrade will enable the City to proactively monitor and address leaks, reducing water loss and mitigating financial impacts for residents of both the City of Coconut Creek and the City of Parkland. It will also provide greater transparency to residents, reduce costs, and improve operational efficiencies.

Staff will be submitting project documentation and letters of support along with the application to Congressman Moskowitz for this project, which will be shared upon acceptance of the submission package.  A resolution of support from the Commission is encouraged as a part of the application process.

RECOMMENDATION:

Staff recommends approval of this resolution.
