A RESOLUTION PROVIDING EMERGENCY TEMPORARY RELIEF FROM SECTION 13-331(D)(10) OF THE CITY OF COCONUT CREEK CODE OF ORDINANCES RELATING TO COMMERCIAL LOADING AND UNLOADING OPERATIONS FOR A NINETY (90) DAY PERIOD DUE TO COMMUNITY NEEDS RELATED TO IMPACTS SUFFERED FROM HURRICANE IRMA.

body

BACKGROUND:

Due to Hurricane Irma, the City declared a State of Emergency by proclamation on September 5, 2017.  As authorized under this Proclamation, the City of Coconut Creek may take the necessary actions to manage the State of Emergency.   Such actions should include those that allow our community to receive the most efficient and effective service as it relates to building and landscape materials for repairs necessitated by the impacts of Hurricane Irma.

DISCUSSION:

Home Depot has requested temporary relief from the City’s Code provisions for commercial loading and unloading operations between the hours of 6:00 a.m. and 9:00 p.m. so that they may receive, load, and unload building materials without restriction during this time of emergency and post-disaster action.  Granting this relief will assist Home Depot to remain adequately stocked to meet the increased demand for supplies as a result of storm damage.

This Resolution grants relief to Home Depot for a period of ninety (90) days in the form of an emergency temporary waiver of delivery hours, allowing them to provide a much needed service to our community during this time of recovery.

RECOMMENDATION:

Staff recommends approval of this Resolution.
