DISCUSSION AND POSSIBLE ACTION: CURBSIDE COLLECTION TIME FOR RECYCLABLE MATERIALS AND BULK & YARD WASTE.

BACKGROUND:
At the April 23, 2026, City Commission Workshop, staff presented options to the Commission on the future Solid Waste and Recycling Collection Contract. As part of this presentation, staff presented two (2) options for the frequency of collection.
The City Commission requested additional data from Republic Services, regarding the amount of contamination between the two (2) curbside recycling options. There was very little quantifiable data and the selection should be based on customer service needs. The City Commission is asked to discuss the preference related to number of recycling pick ups. In addition, staff requested cost data related to an additional alternative that involves reducing the bulk pick up from weekly to every other week for consideration.
