BACKGROUND:
The purpose of the Tree Canopy Replacement Grant Program is to assist eligible applicants with tree canopy replacement in neighborhoods that have lost canopy due to disease, infrastructure conflicts, or natural impacts. The City is committed to providing exceptional, responsive, and resilient services for the Coconut Creek community. Quality neighborhoods are crucial to attaining this mission. The state of our neighborhoods reflects the City's overall economic stability, social quality, and security.
DISCUSSION:
The Tree Canopy Replacement Grant Program has allocated a budget of $250,000 to fund canopy replacement projects. The Ginger Tree Homeowners Association has submitted a request for $5,440.00 in grant funds to replace canopy associated with the removal of diseased trees and trees damaging infrastructure. The total project cost is $7,330.00. The program guidelines require that the applicant cover the full cost of the first replacement tree and grant funds will then reimburse the cost of the additional trees needed to meet the required canopy replacement under the Land Development Code, up to the maximum amount allowed by the grant, which is $30,000.
The Ginger Tree Homeowners Association application is the first Tree Canopy Replacement Grant request for Fiscal Year 2025 (FY25). The proposed grant project satisfies the standards established by the Tree Canopy Replacement Grant Program Guidelines.
