A RESOLUTION APPROVING THE CITY OF COCONUT CREEK’S 2024 STATE LEGISLATIVE AGENDA.

BACKGROUND:
The City of Coconut Creek works with our State Lobbyist each year to create a State Legislative Agenda to be submitted to the Broward County Legislative Delegation, Broward County Board of County Commissioners, Broward League of Cities, Florida League of Cities, and Florida’s State Representatives.
DISCUSSION:
Staff communicates with the City’s State Lobbyist, Ericks Consulting, throughout the year on issues of legislative importance to the City. Based on these communications, a public workshop was held at 5:00 p.m. on December 20, 2023, to review the proposed State Legislative Agenda with the City Commission, Federal Lobbyists Jim Crum and Harry Glenn from Van Scoyoc Associates, State Lobbyists Candice Ericks and Lauren Jackson from Ericks Consulting, State Representative Christine Hunschofsky, and staff from State Senator Tina Polsky’s office. Following feedback from the workshop, staff updated the document, and the attached proposed 2024 Coconut Creek State Legislative Agenda outlines the City’s State legislative priorities for the upcoming year. Please note that the highlighted yellow text in Exhibit “A” represents updates from the 2023 State Legislative Agenda and feedback from the City Commission’s December 20, 2023, Legislative Workshop.
RECOMMENDATION:
Staff recommends approval of this resolution.
