BACKGROUND:
The City is committed to protecting its residents and visitors, and to the protection of property, while creating a safe environment for all who live in, work in, or visit our community. The purchase of these items will continue to enhance our high-quality workforce and ensure the public safety.
DISCUSSION:
The attached memo from Chief Albert Arenal to City Manager Karen Brooks, explains the request to purchase six fixed license plate recognition (LPR) cameras and three mobile LPR cameras with speed awareness trailers in the total amount of $137,000. Procurement of all items listed will be in accordance with the City’s Purchasing Policies and Procedures.
RECOMMENDATION:
Staff recommends approval of this resolution.

NOTES: There is approximately $784,000 available in the Federal Law Enforcement Trust Fund - Department of Justice, Account #6261, of which $250,000 was previously earmarked for Crime Prevention Enhancement Programs, including the LPR system.
