body

BACKGROUND:

On November 14, 2019, the City Commission awarded Buttonwood Hammock Homeowners Association $6,250 in matching funds from the Neighborhood Enhancement Grant Program.  Upon further review of the Neighborhood Enhancement Guidelines, staff has determined that the Buttonwood Hammock Homeowners Association is eligible to receive an additional $6,250 in grant funding.  The Neighborhood Enhancement Grant Program Guidelines state that design services associated with multi-phase design projects do not require a match.

DISCUSSION:

The City is committed to enhancing community aesthetics and promoting a positive environmental image; this grant project furthers this strategic initiative.  The applicant has proposed a two part multi-phase plan. Phase I proposes to design a new street tree plan for the Buttonwood Hammock community. Phase II of the multi-phase plan proposes to install common area trees, utilizing the new street tree plan.

As stated above, the Buttonwood Hammock Neighborhood Enhancement Grant Project is a multi-phase design projects and the design services associated with the project do not require a match. Therefore, the Buttonwood Hammock Project is eligible for a total grant of $12,500.

The Buttonwood Hammock grant application was the first Neighborhood Enhancement Grant submitted in Fiscal Year (FY) 2020. The program has a $65,000 budget for FY 2020. To date, $43,750 has been awarded through the program.
