title
A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER, OR DESIGNEE, TO EXECUTE A SINGLE SOURCE AGREEMENT WITH MACH ALERT, INC. FOR THE INSTALLATION OF FIRE STATION ALERTING HARDWARE AND SOFTWARE IN FIRE STATIONS 50, 94, AND TEMPORARY FIRE STATION 113.

body
BACKGROUND:
The City of Coconut Creek has contracted fire/EMS 911 dispatch services with the City of Coral Springs. In order to provide fire station alerting for Fire Stations 50 and 94, the current station alerting system must be updated, and new equipment must be installed in temporary Fire Station 113. The City of Coral Springs contracted with Mach Alert, Inc. to install the proprietary hardware and software in their stations and dispatch previously.
DISCUSSION:
The City desires to use the single source agreement process to update the fire station alerting equipment in Fire Station 50 and 94 and install new equipment in temporary Fire Station 113. The City of Coral Springs previously had an installation contract with Mach Alert, Inc. for installing the hardware and software in their fire stations, which has expired. The Mach Alert system is a proprietary system and is the only hardware and software that can be used to provide fire station alerting between Coral Springs 911 dispatch and Coconut Creek fire stations. The hardware and software will meet the NFPA 1221 standard on fire department call notification.
Coconut Creek has met with Broward County and has secured a method to allow Broward Regional Dispatch to alert Fire Stations 50, 94, and temporary 113 until fire/EMS dispatch services are transferred to Coral Springs, using the Mach Alert, Inc. hardware and software.
Coconut Creek will enter into a maintenance contract with Mach Alert after installation.
