body

BACKGROUND:

At the request of the City Commission, staff developed a project to install pedestrian lighting on the north and south sides of Coconut Creek Parkway between Lyons Road and Coconut Creek Boulevard for the purpose of creating a safer pedestrian environment along this corridor. The poles and fixtures will match the seven (7) that were previously installed in this area as part of a prior street improvement project.  The Coconut Creek Parkway Pedestrian Lighting Improvement project is in line with the City’s mission statement of fostering continuous quality improvement, quality of life, and personal security.

DISCUSSION:

On May 12, 2019, the City issued two hundred twenty five (225) electronic bid invitations. Seven (7) bids were received of which five (5) were deemed responsive.  The five (5) responsive submittals were from PowerCore, Inc. ($584,771.70); Providian Construction Group ($679,742.65); Horsepower Electric, Inc. ($687,956.50); Weekly Asphalt Paving, Inc. ($799,946.40); and Sagaris Corporation ($813,263.00). Staff recommends approval of an agreement with Powercore, Inc., the lowest responsible and responsive bidder. The project completion time is 270 calendar days from issuance of the Notice to Proceed.
