A RESOLUTION APPROVING THE BAYWOOD VILLAGE II CONDOMINIUM ASSOCIATION APPLICATION FOR GRANT FUNDS FROM THE TREE CANOPY REPLACEMENT GRANT PROGRAM FOR A MULTI-CATEGORY REPLACEMENT PROJECT.
body
BACKGROUND:
The purpose of the Tree Canopy Replacement Grant Program is to assist eligible applicants with tree canopy replacement in neighborhoods that have lost canopy due to disease, infrastructure conflicts, or natural events. The City is committed to providing exceptional, responsive, and resilient services for the Coconut Creek community. Quality neighborhoods are crucial to attaining this mission. The state of our neighborhoods reflects the City's overall economic stability, social quality, and security.
DISCUSSION:
The Tree Canopy Replacement Grant Program has an allocated budget of $250,000 to fund eligible canopy replacement projects. The Baywood Village II Condominium Association has submitted a grant application, requesting $30,000.00 in funding to replace canopy removed due to diseased trees and trees causing damage to existing infrastructure. The total project cost is $35,231.00. In accordance with the Tree Canopy Replacement Grant Program Guidelines, applicants are required to fund the full cost of the first replacement tree. Grant funds are then used to reimburse the cost of additional trees necessary to achieve compliance with the canopy replacement requirements of the City's Land Development Code, up to the maximum grant award of $30,000.
The Baywood Village II Condominium Association application represents the second Tree Canopy Replacement Grant request since the inception of the program in 2025 and the first for Fiscal Year 2026 (FY26). The proposed project meets all criteria and standards established by the Tree Canopy Replacement Grant Program Guidelines.
