title

A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER, OR DESIGNEE, TO EXECUTE THE ATTACHED LETTER OF AGREEMENT WITH THE STATE OF FLORIDA AGENCY FOR HEALTH CARE ADMINISTRATION (AHCA) TO PARTICIPATE IN THE PUBLIC EMERGENCY MEDICAL TRANSPORTATION (PEMT) PROGRAM FOR MEDICAID MANAGED CARE REIMBURSEMENT.

body

BACKGROUND:

The State of Florida Agency for Health Care Administration (AHCA) provides supplemental payments to eligible Public Emergency Medical Transportation (PEMT) entities that provide medical transportation services to Medicaid beneficiaries. In order to receive these supplemental payments, the City of Coconut Creek must first submit an Intergovernmental Transfer (IGT) of funds to AHCA.

DISCUSSION:

Approval of this Letter of Agreement (LOA) will permit the City of Coconut Creek to participate in the State’s Medicaid Managed Care Reimbursement of the PEMT program, which will provide the City with supplemental funds, on an annual basis, based on the number of Medicaid patients that Coconut Creek Fire Rescue transports to a healthcare facility. The City must provide AHCA $100,283.28 for its portion of IGT funds to be eligible to receive its allocation of payments under the Medicaid Managed Care Reimbursement of the PEMT program. These funds will be used by the State of Florida as a match to draw federal funding of $234,142.61 for the program, resulting in a net revenue of $133,859.33 to the City.

Staff recommends approval of this resolution.
