BACKGROUND:

Section 2-82 of the City’s Code of Ordinances contains the provisions for the use of off-duty firefighters/paramedics or fire inspectors for unofficial functions.                     

DISCUSSION:

The City is desirous of amending Section 2-82 of the Code of Ordinances to make it consistent with the terms used in the most recent Fire Collective Bargaining Agreement ratified by the Commission and Fire Department procedures. This proposed amendment also provides for an increase in the hourly fees for both daily and holiday special details and adds Juneteenth as a holiday for which the holiday premium is charged.

RECOMMENDATION:

Staff recommends approval of this ordinance.
