A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE MAYOR AND THE CITY MANAGER, OR THEIR DESIGNEES, TO EXECUTE THE INTERLOCAL AGREEMENT WITH BROWARD COUNTY FOR BROWARD COUNTYWIDE INTEGRATED WATER RESOURCE PLAN FUNDING, PROVIDING COST-SHARE FUNDING TO SUPPORT THE CONSTRUCTION OF THE RECLAIMED WATER SYSTEM IN THE MAINSTREET DEVELOPMENT.

BACKGROUND:
The City is incorporating reclaimed water as an alternative supply source and a key element of its Green Plan and Reclaimed Water Master Plan. As part of the MainStreet Development of Regional Impact (DRI), the proposed developments will be required to provide reclaimed water for irrigation for every block and median within the project.
DISCUSSION:
In 2023, the City applied for cost-share funding from Broward County through the Integrated Water Resource Plan (IWRP) to support the construction of the reclaimed water system within MainStreet. The Technical Advisory Committee and the Water Advisory Board of the Board of Broward County Commissioners have recommended funding of up to $175,000.00 for said reclaimed water system.
The purpose of this Interlocal Agreement (ILA) is to establish and clarify the roles and responsibilities of the parties involved in the implementation of the funding for this project.
RECOMMENDATION:
Staff recommends approval of this resolution.
