BACKGROUND:

On October 7, 2023, during the Jewish festival of Simchat Torah when hundreds of thousands of Israelis were on their way to synagogues to celebrate the holiday and the Sabbath, Hamas and aligned terrorists launched a massive, unprovoked war on Israel. The United States of America and countries world-wide have expressed their support of Israel and its right to defend its citizens from these unprovoked attacks.

DISCUSSION:

 

The City of Coconut Creek strongly supports the sovereignty of Israel and recognizes its right to self-defense and to protect its citizens. The City Commission expresses its support for Israel's right to exist peacefully, condemns Hamas' brutal unprovoked war on Israel and their citizens and visitors, denounces the terrorist actions of Hamas, and opposes hate, extremism, and violence.

RECOMMENDATION:

Staff recommends approval of this resolution.
