title

A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER, OR DESIGNEE, TO EXECUTE REVOCABLE LICENSE AGREEMENTS WITH THE TOWNSHIP COMMUNITY MASTER ASSOCIATION, INC. (TCMA), ON BEHALF OF THE TOWNSHIP ESTATES COMMUNITY FOR THE INSTALLATION OF SIGNAGE IN THE PUBLIC RIGHT-OF-WAY.

body

BACKGROUND:

The Township Community Master Association Inc. (TCMA), on behalf of the Township Estates Community, is requesting permission from the City of Coconut Creek to install two community entrance signs. The easternmost sign will be located at the intersection of Copans Road and NW 40 Avenue. The westernmost entrance sign will be located at the intersection of Copans Road and NW 42 Avenue. The purpose of the new signage is to enhance the neighborhood entrance and remove the current sign from the Broward County right-of-way.

DISCUSSION:

The proposed sign locations fall within the public right-of-way and as such, staff is not authorized to issue a permit for the sign structures. However, Section 13-460 (9) of the Land Development Code provides for the location of signage upon public-right-of-way if specifically authorized by the City Commission. Therefore, should the Commission support this request, the City Manager shall be authorized to execute the appropriate Revocable License Agreements.

RECOMMENDATION:

Staff recommends approval of this resolution.
