body
BACKGROUND:
This item was tabled to a time certain of February 27, 2020, at the February 13, 2020, City Commission Meeting.
In 2012, the Broward County Commission adopted Resolution No. 2012-271 to establish a program with the goal to become a no kill community and to provide a strategic plan to implement lifesaving programs and services at Broward County Animal Care and Adoption Centers in Broward County.
DISCUSSION:
Currently, Broward County has implemented strategic plans and developed programs to provide sheltering, humane care and live-release of all healthy, adoptable dogs and cats entering the Broward County Animal Care and Adoption Centers. The City Commission of the City of Coconut Creek finds and determines that it is in the best interest of its residents, business owners, and visitors to support Broward County’s strategic plan and programs to provide sheltering, human care and live release of all healthy and adoptable animals entering the Broward County Animal Care and Adoption Centers and to incentivize adoption from the Broward County Animal Care and Adoption Centers by waiving and reducing fees associated with the cost of adoption.
RECOMMENDATION:
Staff recommends approval of this resolution.
