A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER, OR DESIGNEE, TO EXECUTE AN AGREEMENT WITH WEEKLEY ASPHALT PAVING, INC. FOR THE RELOCATION AND REPLACEMENT OF CITY HYDRANTS AND VALVES ON COPANS ROAD.

body

BACKGROUND:

The City of Coconut Creek (City) owns and maintains City utilities along Copans Road within Broward County (County) right-of-way. The County is undergoing a roadway improvement project on Copans Road and has requested the relocation of City utilities between NW 49 Terrace and NW 42 Avenue, which also includes roadway restoration affected by the relocation. Since Copans Road is a County road, the City is required to make the necessary utility adjustments per Section 337.410, Florida Statutes. Weekley Asphalt Paving, Inc. has been awarded said project by the County and has the capability of completing the necessary utility adjustments in conjunction with completing the County roadway project.

DISCUSSION:

The City is committed to providing uninterrupted water and wastewater services to our customers. This agreement will allow Weekley Asphalt Paving, Inc. to replace and relocate conflicting City hydrants and valves within the County’s work zone on Copans Road between NW 49 Terrace east to NW 42 Avenue. This is also an opportune time to update the existing hydrants and valves since they are due for replacement.

Staff recommends approval of this resolution.
