BACKGROUND:
The Utilities and Engineering Department and the Public Works Department share a maintenance building within the Sabal Pines Park maintenance yard, which includes three (3) storage bays that house various equipment and materials to protect them from the weather and theft. The City Commission approved funding for an addition to the maintenance building as part of the Fiscal Year 2021 (FY21) budget under the Sabal Pines Park Yard Retrofit Capital Improvement Program (CIP) to provide the Utilities and Engineering Department additional storage bays. Architectural design for this project was completed in FY23, which includes construction of three (3) additional storage bays attached to the existing maintenance building along with a perimeter landscaping buffer.
DISCUSSION:
On January 14, 2024, the City issued IFB No. 02-13-24-11 for construction services related to this project; and on February 13, 2024, the City opened bid submittals from five (5) companies, including: 1) Maceda Contractors, LLC, 2) Green Engineering & Construction, Inc., 3) Vercetti Enterprises, LLC, 4) Retcom Construction, LLC, and 5) MBR Construction, Inc. Staff determined that Maceda Contractors, LLC submitted the lowest responsive and responsible bid of $930,100.00, which includes line items 1 through 6 and line item 9 (Add Alternates No. 3). The construction is to be completed within 270 calendar days after the issuance of the Notice to Proceed by the City.
RECOMMENDATION:
Staff recommends approval of this resolution.
