A RESOLUTION APPROVING THE VICTORIA ISLES HOMEOWNERS ASSOCIATION APPLICATION FOR GRANT FUNDS FROM THE NEIGHBORHOOD ENHANCEMENT GRANT PROGRAM FOR A MULTI-PHASE LANDSCAPE DESIGN PROJECT TO REDESIGN THE LANDSCAPE MASTER PLAN.
body
BACKGROUND:
The Victoria Isles Homeowners Association is requesting $20,000 in grant funds from the Neighborhood Enhancement Grant (NEG) Program. This program provides funding assistance for projects that promote a stronger, safer, and more sustainable community. The proposed project seeks to enhance community aesthetics and sustainability by revising the Landscape Master Plan. The project is eligible under the multi-phase design project category of the NEG Program Guidelines. The Victoria Isles community is located on the west side of Lyons Road, north of the Sawgrass Expressway. Access to the community is from Sawgrass Boulevard.
DISCUSSION:
The City is committed to enhancing community aesthetics and promoting a positive environmental image; this grant project supports and advances this strategic initiative. The applicant has proposed a multi-phase design project. The proposed design will add landscaping enhancements to the berm along Sawgrass Boulevard, the entrance area, the clubhouse and pool deck, clubhouse parking lot, front gate, and lake area directly adjacent to the entrance. Phase I will focus on designing an enhanced landscape plan, while future phases will focus on plan implementation, including landscape installation.
The applicant intends to procure Craven Thompson & Associates, Inc. to assess the current conditions and amend the Community’s Landscape Plan. The total cost of Phase I design services is $20,000, with grant reimbursement of up to $20,000, which does not require a matching contribution per the grant guidelines.
The Victoria Isles Homeowners Association was awarded $8,037.50 in matching grant funds on June 23, 2022. The NEG guidelines state that an applicant who has previously received funds will not be eligible to receive additional funds for five (5) years unless there are no other applicants that meet the criteria and/or funding requirements. There are no current applicants that meet the criteria and/or funding requirements.
The NEG Program has a $195,000 budget for Fiscal Year 2026 (FY26). The Victoria Isles Homeowners Association represents the fourth grant request for FY26. The project enhances the community and meets all criteria and standards established by the NEG Program Guidelines.
