A RESOLUTION APPROVING THE ANTIGUA II CONDOMINIUM ASSOCIATION APPLICATION FOR MATCHING GRANT FUNDS FROM THE NEIGHBORHOOD ENHANCEMENT GRANT PROGRAM FOR SECURITY ENHANCEMENTS.

body

BACKGROUND:

The City of Coconut Creek is committed to enhancing community aesthetics and promoting a stronger, safer, and more resilient community by providing funding assistance through the Neighborhood Enhancement Grant (NEG) Program.

DISCUSSION:

For Fiscal Year 2026 (FY26), the NEG Program has allocated a budget of $195,000 to fund neighborhood improvement projects. The Antigua II Condominium Association has submitted a request for $7,530.93 in matching grant funds to enhance community safety and security through the NEG Program, with a total project cost of $15,061.86. The program guidelines provide for a reimbursement of fifty percent (50%) of the project costs, up to a maximum of $10,000 for security projects.

Certain records relating to security systems for this agenda item are exempt from public disclosure pursuant to Section 281.301, F.S., and Section 119.071(3)(a), F.S., and have, therefore, not been made part of this agenda item. However, City staff has thoroughly reviewed all grant documents to ensure compliance with City requirements.

The Antigua II Condominium Association was awarded $8,757.09 in matching grant funds on July 13, 2023, and $8,757.09 in matching grant funds on June 13, 2024. The NEG guidelines state that an applicant who has previously received funds will not be eligible to receive additional funds for five (5) years, unless there are no other applicants that meet the criteria and/or funding requirements. The FY26 NEG application cycle closes on July 31, 2026. There are currently three (3) pending applications, and the NEG Fund has a remaining balance of $118,719.10 available.

The Antigua II Condominium Association application is the sixth NEG request of FY26. The proposed grant project will further enhance the community and satisfies the standards established by the NEG Program.
