A RESOLUTION APPOINTING AT LEAST EIGHT (8) BUT NO MORE THAN ELEVEN (11) MEMBERS TO THE AFFORDABLE HOUSING ADVISORY COMMITTEE, “AHAC,” IN ACCORDANCE WITH SECTION 2-255 OF THE CITY’S CODE OF ORDINANCES AND SECTION 420.9076, FLORIDA STATUTES, ALSO KNOWN AS THE SHIP ACT.

BACKGROUND:

 

In accordance with Section 2-255 of the City’s Code of Ordinances, the City Commission shall appoint between eight (8) and eleven (11) members to the Affordable Housing Advisory Committee, hereinafter “AHAC,” with varying qualifications pursuant to the requirements of Section 420.9076, Florida Statutes, also known as the State Housing Initiatives Partnership “SHIP” Act.  At least six (6) of the members must have qualifications in the following areas and be actively engaged in the applicable area:

                     Representative engaged in the residential home building industry;

                     Representative engaged in the banking or mortgage banking industry;

                     Representative engaged in the areas of labor in home building;

                     Representative engaged as an advocate for low-income persons;

                     Representative engaged as a for-profit developer;

                     Representative engaged as a not-for-profit provider of affordable housing;

                     Representative engaged as a real estate professional;

                     Representative of employers within the City;

                     Representative who resides within the City;

                     Representative of essential services personnel; and

                     Representative serving on the Planning & Zoning Board (Appointed by the P&Z Board).

 

Appointments shall be for a three (3) year term. The deadline to apply for this board was extended to August 19 to allow ample time for receipt of applications to fulfill the required categories.
