BACKGROUND:

This item was approved on First Reading at the July 14, 2016, Commission Meeting.

On January 1, 2016, the City entered into a twenty-one (21) month renewal agreement with Republic Services of Florida, L.P. d/b/a All Service Refuse (“Republic”) to provide solid waste collection and disposal services to the residents and businesses of the City.  At that time, the monthly rates for single-family households were already approved by the Commission and levied on the 2015 tax bills by the Property Appraiser. The rates for multi-family service were increased slightly to compensate for the reduced single-family rate shortfall.

DISCUSSION:

An adjustment of costs from lowering multi-family rates and increasing single-family rates is included in this amendment and is justified and equitable.  The minor increase in rates for single-family and a correlating decrease in rates for multi-family is indicated in the chart below.  This amendment is revenue neutral to Republic.
