A RESOLUTION APPROVING THE COUNTRY WOOD ESTATES PUD NO. 1 HOMEOWNERS ASSOCIATION APPLICATION FOR GRANT FUNDS FROM THE NEIGHBORHOOD ENHANCEMENT GRANT PROGRAM FOR A MULTI-PHASE LANDSCAPE DESIGN PROJECT TO REDESIGN THE STREET TREE MASTER LANDSCAPE PLAN.
body
BACKGROUND:
The Country Wood Estates Homeowners Association is requesting $19,500 in grant funds from the Neighborhood Enhancement Grant Program. This program provides funding assistance for projects that promote a stronger, safer, and more resilient community. The proposed project seeks to enhance community aesthetics and resiliency by revising the Street Tree Master Landscape Plan in accordance with the “Right Tree, Right Place” principles. The project is eligible under the multi-phase design project category of the Neighborhood Enhancement Grant Program Guidelines. The Country Wood Estates community is located on the west side of Lyons Road, north of Hillsboro Boulevard, with access from NW 74 Street.
DISCUSSION:
The City is committed to enhancing community aesthetics and promoting a positive environmental image; this grant project supports and advances this strategic initiative. The applicant has proposed a multi-phase, neighborhood-wide street tree landscape project. Phase I will focus on designing a new Street Tree Master Landscape Plan, while future phases will focus on implementation of the plan, including tree installation. The original landscape materials are no longer compatible with surrounding areas due to their size and growth habits.
The applicant intends to procure Davidson Design Studios, Inc. to assess existing conditions and develop a new Street Tree Master Landscape Plan. The total estimated cost of Phase I design services is $19,500. The grant provides reimbursement of up to $20,000 and, in accordance with the grant guidelines, does not require a local match.
The Neighborhood Enhancement Grant Program has a $195,000 budget for Fiscal Year 2026 (FY26). The Country Wood Estates Homeowners Association represents the tenth grant request for FY26. The project enhances the community and meets all criteria and standards established by the Neighborhood Enhancement Grant Program Guidelines.
