BACKGROUND:
Each year approximately 1.7 million people in the USA are diagnosed with cancer, of which 25% are rare cancers. Yet rare cancers receive the least amount of research funding, and most have no curative treatments or standard of care.
The City wishes to recognize September 30, 2022, as “Rare Cancer Day” in honor of those whose lives have been shortened by rare diseases and to help raise awareness of rare cancers and the impact rare diseases have on families within our community.
