A MOTION TO REJECT BID NO. 07-13-22-12 FOR SABAL PINES PARK SIGN REPLACEMENTS AND THE BID RESPONSES RECEIVED.

body

BACKGROUND:

The purpose of the Invitation for Bids (IFB) is to contract with a qualified, experienced and licensed company to fabricate and install signage at Sabal Pines Park. The scope of services consists of replacing all existing signs in the park with new standardized designed signs.

DISCUSSION:

On June 12, 2022, the City issued IFB No. 07-13-22-12 for Sabal Pines Park Sign Replacements. Invitations were electronically sent to one hundred seventy-five (175) prospective companies and suppliers, eight (8) solicitation documents were downloaded, and five (5) responsive bids were received.  The following bids were received from Baron Sign Manufacturing ($144,886.65), Rite Lite Signs, Inc. ($235,838.00), Signstar West Central Signs, Inc. ($246,068.00), Bergen Sign Company, Inc. ($252,350.00), and Southeastern Lighting Solutions, Inc. ($406,918.88).

Department Staff reviewed the bid responses and observed that the lowest bid was in excess of the $100,000 budgeted for this project. Staff is of the belief that the bids were unacceptably high due to the current price escalations that are occurring in the industry.  In the best interest of the City, staff is recommending to reject the bid and the bid responses received and to re-bid this project at a later date.

RECOMMENDATION:

Staff recommends approval of this motion.
