A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE USE OF STATE LAW ENFORCEMENT TRUST FUNDS IN THE TOTAL AMOUNT OF TWENTY FIVE THOUSAND FIVE HUNDRED FIFTY ONE DOLLARS AND SEVENTY CENTS ($25,551.70): FIFTEEN THOUSAND FIVE HUNDRED FIFTY ONE DOLLARS AND SEVENTY CENTS ($15,551.70) TOWARD 40MM LESS LETHAL WEAPONS AND TEN THOUSAND DOLLARS ($10,000) TO PROVIDE A DONATION TO THE POLICE EXPLORER POST.

BACKGROUND:
The City is committed to protecting its residents and visitors and to the protection of property while creating a safe environment for all who live in, work in, or visit our community. The purchase of the above-referenced items will continue to enhance our high quality workforce and ensure the public safety. The donation to the Police Explorer Post will assist the Police Explorers with training and purchasing new equipment and uniforms.
DISCUSSION:
Please see the attached memorandum from Chief Albert Arenal to City Manager Karen Brooks, explaining the request to purchase 40mm Less Lethal Weapons in the amount of $15,551.70 and to provide a donation to the Police Explorer Post in the amount of $10,000. Procurement of all items listed will be in accordance with the City’s Purchasing Policies and Procedures.

Staff recommends approval of this resolution.
