body

BACKGROUND:

The Fiscal Year 2020 (FY20) Operating and Capital Improvement Budget, which was approved by the City of Coconut Creek City Commission on September 26, 2019, through Ordinance No. 2019-032, included the replacement of the redundant HVAC chiller at the Government Center through the HVAC Replacement Capital Improvement Program (CIP).  Staff has received a quote from a HVAC services contractor, who has an existing agreement with the City and is ready to proceed with the project following approval by the City Commission.

DISCUSSION:

The existing backup HVAC chiller has exceeded its useful life and is in need of replacement.  This unit will ultimately become the primary chiller for the Government Center, and it is critical that we have a redundant system to cover any potential mechanical failures.

Master Mechanical Services, Inc. was awarded a contract by the City as the primary vendor for HVAC services through RFP No. 02-23-22-10.  Master Mechanical Services, Inc. provided a proposal in the amount of $262,574.99 for the purchase and installation of a redundant HVAC chiller at the Government Center.  The project will be completed within one hundred eighty (180) days following Commission approval of this resolution and issuance of the Notice to Proceed.

RECOMMENDATION:

Staff recommends approval of this resolution.
