A MOTION TO REJECT BID NO. 03-23-22-2 FOR CITY HALL LOBBY AND FACILITY RENOVATIONS AND THE BID RESPONSES RECEIVED.

body

BACKGROUND:

The purpose of the Invitation for Bids (IFB) is to contract with a qualified, experienced and licensed contractor to perform city hall lobby and facility renovations. The scope of services consists of renovations to the city hall lobby and kitchen/breakroom area.

DISCUSSION:

On February 20, 2022, the City issued IFB No. 03-23-22-3 for city hall and facility renovations. Invitations were electronically sent to 400 prospective contractors and suppliers, 24 solicitation documents were downloaded, and two (2) responsive bids were received from Big Dog Construction Services, Inc. ($827,480.36) and Cosugas, LLC ($1,225,000.00).

Department Staff reviewed the bid responses and was recommending award to Big Dog Construction Services, Inc. Prior to proceeding with the award, Big Dog Construction Services announced to staff that they would be withdrawing their bid response due to a miscalculation in their pricing. In the best interest of the City, staff is recommending to reject this bid and the bid responses received and to re-bid this project at a later date.

RECOMMENDATION:

Staff recommends approval of this motion.
