BACKGROUND:
The City's roadway infrastructure has aged and requires rehabilitation. This is a comprehensive street improvements program spread over the course of several years pending funding to provide milling and resurfacing of city streets, new sidewalk construction, sidewalk and roadway repairs, installation of ADA accessible sidewalk ramps, and swale reconstruction. The City is committed to maintaining a high quality of life for its residents. The Comprehensive Street Improvement Project is in line with Vision 2030 by providing continuous improvement, service excellence, innovation, and promotes safety and quality of life.
DISCUSSION:
On March 1, 2022, the City issued two hundred forty (240) electronic invitations through its eBid System. Two (2) bid responses were received: Weekley Asphalt Paving, Inc. and DP Development, LLC. Procurement reviewed the responses for compliance. Reference checks and surveys were conducted on the lowest bidder, Weekley Asphalt Paving, Inc. No issues were found, and the reference checks revealed acceptable ratings.
The project's lowest bid is $3,667,567, and the City has been approved for $3,000,000 in funding from the Broward County Surtax. Additionally, the City is proposing a ten percent (10%) contingency to cover unforeseen conditions not included in the bid, in the amount of $366,757. The project completion time for Phase II is two hundred and eighty (280) calendar days from issuance of the Notice to Proceed.
